BEFORE USING IT
What should I do first?
- Confirm the intended spraying/spreading operation and required U.S./state authorizations before buying for commercial application work.
- Learn battery/charging, filling/loading, controller and application-system setup.
- Inspect pumps/nozzles/spreader components, sensing systems and props as part of every operational setup.
FIRST USE
How do I start without overwhelming myself?
- Train on a simple field and conservative route.
- Practice pause/abort/refill/battery-turnaround procedures.
- Validate calibration and actual application result before commercial acreage.
CONTROLS & SETTINGS
What actually matters at the beginning?
- Flow, speed, swath and altitude work together.
- Terrain/obstacle sensing and RTK are aids; they do not eliminate field inspection.
- Route automation should be monitored and interrupted whenever conditions no longer match the plan.
CRASH / DAMAGE PREVENTION
What beginner mistakes should I avoid?
- Do not spray regulated substances just because the aircraft is ready to fly.
- Do not use theoretical acreage numbers as a promise to a client.
- Do not ignore wind, drift, people/animals, neighboring property or product-label restrictions.
APPLICATION WORKFLOW
Calibration and field planning matter as much as flying.
- Use mapping/boundaries to support application planning.
- Keep application zones and no-apply/exclusion areas explicit.
- Document the mission and application according to the applicable rules and your business process.
USEFUL ACCESSORIES
What is actually worth considering?
- Battery/charging ecosystem
- Field refill/loading setup
- RTK/correction setup when used
- PPE and spill/product-handling equipment
- Transport solution
REALISTIC USES
What can I do with it?
- Agricultural spraying when properly authorized
- Spreading
- Field treatment workflows
What is it not suited for?
- Casual first-drone learning
- Unlicensed/unauthorized chemical application
- Jobs where a smaller or non-dispensing platform is the better fit
U.S. COMPLIANCE CHECK
Specialized gear can require specialized authority.
- FAA Part 137 can apply to UAS dispensing agricultural products; Part 107 alone is not necessarily sufficient for that operation.
- Verify FAA exemptions/COA/registration requirements for the aircraft and operation, especially where operating weight is 55 lb or more.
- State pesticide/applicator rules and product labels are separate requirements.
COMMON BEGINNER PROBLEMS
Check these before deciding the gear is broken.
- Uneven application: check calibration, nozzles/spreaders, rate, speed and product.
- Route errors: confirm field boundary and coordinate/RTK setup.
- Downtime: plan charging and refill logistics before expanding acreage.
